Located in Japan’s Niseko Grand Hirafu Resort area on the island of Hokkaido, Skye Niseko is a premium-grade ski resort with 105 apartments and 5 penthouses, a bespoke restaurant, ski-in and ski-out concierge facilities and a contemporary interpretation of the traditional Japanese Onsen.

Architectus’ design is contemporary, timelessly refined and memorable with international appeal whilst maintaining a local feel. It speaks to the crystalline nature of the environment through Japanese-made ceramic tiles that enclose the building, while shaped banding to the spandrels which wrap around the building articulate the sweeping winds that draw through the valley.

Interiors are warm and engaging with elegant and durable materials selected to withstand the extreme winters. Locally sourced and fabricated materials, including Japanese ceramic tiles and sustainably harvested timbers have been utilised throughout while local Hokkaido culture and character is experienced through the informed integration of art, textiles, furniture and crafts.

Working in a collaborative partnership with locally based Japanese architect – Koichi Ishiguro / ISA Architects, the project has delivered an exceptional design response to the dramatic mountain landscape and snowfields of Hokkaido.

Interiors were designed by Architectus, Pike Withers and Wilson Associates in collaboration.
